摘要: Patients with chronic wounds frequently undergo repetitive debridement without a definitive outcome because of the scarcity of growth factors. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been shown to enhance tissue healing with multiple growth factors. We evaluated the clinical effects of PRP in the treatment of chronic wounds. Seventeen patients with chronic wounds on the lower limbs were treated with the application of autologous PRP twice at a 2-month interval to close the wound and control infection. We found that the average volume of the chronic wounds significantly decreased. In addition, 10 of the 17 patients had complete wound coverage and another 6 patients had >50% wound coverage. Fracture reunion was also observed in 6 of the 10 patients with complete wound coverage. PRP treatment also dramatically reduced the positive results of bacterial culture, from 82.4% to 11.8%. Therefore, we concluded that PRP treatment can efficiently facilitate chronic wound healing and be considered an effective treatment during the management of some complicated chronic wounds.
